Honey bees are flying insects, and close relatives of wasps and ants. They are found on every continent except Antarctica. Honey bees are crucial to the environment as pollinators, and they are well known for producing honey and beeswax.

• Pollination: Honey bees are vital as pollinators, contributing significantly to the reproduction of flowering plants, including many crops. They fly from plant to plant, collecting nectar and pollen. When doing this, they transfer pollen between plants, fertilizing them and allowing them to produce seeds and fruits.
• Honey Production: Honey bees collect nectar from flowers and store it in a separate stomach called the honey stomach. Back in the hive, they process this nectar, converting it into honey through enzymatic action and dehydration. The resulting honey is stored in honeycombs within the hive, and serves as a food source, especially during the winter months.
• Beeswax: Worker bees have special glands on their abdomens that secrete wax. They use this wax to construct the hexagonal cells of the honeycomb, which serves as storage for honey, pollen, and a nursery for developing larvae.

• Royal Jelly: A secretion produced by worker bees, used to feed young larvae and the queen bee.
